As expected the reaction to the George Zimmerman verdict was like a wildfire over the weekend. Of course we all know at this point that George Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch volunteer, was acquitted on Saturday of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
Though most of the reaction has been peaceful, there are some who hurt so deeply that you can hear the venom oozing from their voices and posts. Personally, I’m shaken by the verdict, but not at all surprised. I wrote this on my Facebook page after seeing some very hurtful posts…
Some of you are showing your true ‘selves’ just like during election season. What a shame. Outrage is one thing, but hatred is something entirely different. I choose to walk in love.
But this begs to question, how do we “calmly reflect” as the President has asked us to do? How do you voice your displeasure without compromising your Christian walk? What does “walk in love” look like to you?
I want to know.
